You have given me some good things to think about. There is no question to me that if you wait until your third trimester, you have murdered a premie. However, having two miscarriages in the family, I cannot go around telling people I lost two children. We need to change the hearts and minds of women on this issue. If you read Freakonomics, you know that economics can change behavior. So, why don't we give a $1,000 tax credit to every woman that puts her baby up for adoption? There is a shortage of adoptable children in the US and always a family in need of someone to love.
As for taxes, I don't care too much as long as it is flat. Although, I think the best method is to model the Federal Reserve and make the rate adjustable to the state of the economy. Can you imagine the response to a 8% tax on income or purhcases when the economy is sluggish and how we could stave off inflation at 18% on income or purchases?
So, Paul, you think the immigration bill is gonna make it this time?

As for the child in early stages of development, it is a semantic pretzel to say that they are not human and therefore not entitled to human rights. There are laws protecting the unhatched eggs of eagles, because of the recognition that there is an unseen eagle in it's earliest developmental stages. It goes to the essence of what this being is. Now, I totally understand that the emotional impact of a miscarriage is different than that of an abortion, and it certainly eases the blow that the fetus hasn't been seen, held, or bonded with anyone outside the womb yet. Nonetheless, there can be emotional trauma from that as well, even though there aren't the same psychological dynamics at play as an abortion scenario. It goes back to the essence of the being inside, and his/her intrinsic worth. It would be very normal for a sense of loss
to be present.
As for the flat tax.....ideally, I'd like a flat rate of 10%-15% to be on all consumable items except the essentials, and for that to be the ONLY TAX. The dirty little secret in Washington, that the Democrats especially don't want you to know is that lower taxes always cause higher total tax revenue for the Government. This is because lower taxes gives Americans more money to spend, more spending leads to more tax revenue recieved by the Federal Govt. It's a real win-win situation. However, many don't want a win-win situation. Many politicians want POWER over the electorate regardless of the cost to you. If their burdensome taxes cause you to have less money, and they can create govt. jobs and give the rest to entitlement-type programs they've economically disarmed those who would vote against them, and economically hooked those who would now vote for them since they are the gravy train. And now I must throw-up. It's despicable!!!!
